Bystranda Aveny: An environmental pioneer with Apurgo systems
Bystranda Aveny at Tangen in Kristiansand has recently been awarded SØBO’s Environmental Award 2025 for their impressive environmental and energy efficiency efforts. This housing cooperative has implemented a number of measures that make them a role model for other housing companies.
Big energy and water savings with Apurgo
One of the most notable measures is the installation of the Apurgo M3 water treatment system. This system eliminates the need for chemicals and reduces the risk of legionella, which is particularly important when apartments are empty for long periods of time. Together with Heat&Cool, this system has resulted in significant energy savings. Bystranda Aveny now saves around 250,000 kWh annually, without compromising on comfort or safety. This investment has proven to be highly profitable, with a payback time of just a few years.
Monitoring of water consumption and leaks
In addition to the energy savings, the system also monitors water consumption and immediately detects leaks and overuse. This is an important feature, especially at a time when many municipalities are introducing summer watering bans to save water. By controlling water consumption, housing cooperatives such as Bystranda Aveny can help reduce the strain on water resources and avoid unnecessary waste.
